Dear Gas Station Owners,
My name is Faith I am a sixth grade student at Pioneer
Ridge Middle School in Gardner, KS. I am writing to all of you because
I want to ask you if you could lower the prices of gas. Families everywhere are getting upset because they have to pay for such expensive gas. The economy can only get so much worse, and families are spending so much money just to pay for gas. In the 1990’s gas was only $1.16, and now the average price of gas is $3.66. Cars go everywhere every day and more and more people have to pay for gas. If you would lower the price of gas, people could stop worrying about having to pay for gas and other necessities and just wipe the stress off their faces. Cars need gas and you have to provide it. Please do the right thing.
You can contact me or my teacher at Ferrellj@usd231.com.
Sincerely,
Faith

The Night of Lightening
and much more
It was a muggy, summer, Tuesday evening. Jesi came over to spend the night and she was feeling hyper so I let her dress up in a “sleeping beauty” dress. We goofed around for a little bit and dressed up a lot. Then we went outside around the neighborhood and walked in our costumes everywhere. As we turned down one street we saw a golf cart turn the corner, the man driving the golf cart stopped and told us it wasn’t Halloween yet. We told him “we like dressing up and we love Halloween”, so we went on our way while the kids in the golf cart watched us.
We headed back to my house and my mom told me I had to take Lucy, my dog out on a walk. Jesi and I changed into different crazy clothes and headed towards Waverly Center, a street Lori lives on. Lori is mine and Jesi’s friend. When we got close to Lori’s house I saw her outside in her front yard playing with her younger sister. We asked if Lori could come over and spend the night, her dad said yes and we started walking back to my house.
Clouds started getting darker but we thought it was nothing until it started lightening out and it started to rain. We ran and screamed and we thought we were going to be struck by lightening! That’s when my mom came to the rescue in her silver “Toyota” and drove us back to our house. We were so scared, the clouds were right above us. Thank goodness for my mom.
15 Years from Now

15 Years from Now
When I get older I want to be a fashion designer. It has been my dream for many years. I want to show the world my talent and to be an inspiration to many girls wanting the same dream.
Since I am only in sixth grade, and “they” don’t have designing classes in middle school or high school. So I’ll just practice what I already know and see what other ideas I can find. Plus I’ll take many art classes so I can work on shading, shape, and mixing colors.
In seven years I’ll be starting my first year of college. I will take a designing major my first and third year of college. I will also take German fluency, because if I’m going to be a famous fashion designer and travel the world, I need to be able to speak foreign languages (Plus German is my favorite). Somewhere in the middle of college I will be working on finding a small job to give me some more money (because I’ll need it).
In eleven years I’ll be out of college (YES! NO MORE SCHOOL!) And working as an intern for one of the biggest fashion companies in the world! Then I will work my way up the line to be a CEO. I will change the companies name to “Fashion Fetish”.
Brians winter Q-A

Lesson 14 – Brian’s Winter
Think Critically
1. Why was Brian nervous about the coming of winter?
Brian was nervous for winter because it was hard to hunt in the winter and it would be harder to find warmth.
2. If Betty hadn’t come to Brian’s rescue during the bear’s visit, what might have happened If betty hadent come, the bear would of hurt brian evan worse.
3. Based on what you know about the outdoors, do the events in this story seem believable? Explain.yes I think the events are believable because a bear was hungry and attacked Brian and the skunk sprayed when it got scared.
4. What theme does the relationship between Brian and Betty suggest?
the theme between Brian and Betty is confusing, but if you have to catagorize it they would be acquaintances .
5. Write a paragraph that describes what Brian’s actions in the wilderness reveal about his character. Use details from the story to support your answer.
Brian, in the story is smart, willing, generous, and caring. His acquaintance Betty is always asking for food so he feeds her generously and willing. Also when he made the arrows he was smart to do so, and he kept practicing shooting the arrows too.

Pharaohs-and their reason for power
The Reason
The name “Pharaoh” actually comes from the Greek language and is used in the Old Testament. It started in the Egyptian Per-aa, meaning “Great House”, a place of the palace, which was first used as a label for the king around 1450 BC, even though it only became common some centuries after. Most of the time the usual word for the king of ancient Egypt was nesu, but a whole range of names were applicable to any statement of a king’s names and titles. The king is viewed as an incarnation of Horus, a falcon god, and the posthumous son of Osiris, who himself was a king murdered by his brother, Seth.
Menes Is No Meany
You might or might not have heard of King Menes, but he was the founding king of the first dynasty and the first king to unite Upper and Lower Egypt into one country. That’s where the “double crown” comes in. The red on the double crown stands for Lower Egypt and the white stands for Upper Egypt. Menes was also called “Mena” because it was the first name in Egyptian history. King Menes reigned from 3407 to 3346 B.C.
The Girl King
Hatshepsut was born to Tuthmose I and Aahmes in the 15th century B.C. She was the first female pharaoh of Egypt. Hatshepsut was eligible to become pharaoh after her brother died. She took over the throne in the place of her brother, Tuthmose II. Because of her brother’s death, she was the new pharaoh, but she was a female so she wore the traditional fake beard and garb to gain the respect of the people. Hatshepsut was the most progressive pharaoh since the 15th century, and reigned for 22 years.
The Young Pharaoh
King Tutankhamun, or as we know him, king Tut, was only ten years old when he became pharaoh. King tut was the son of Amenhotep IV (later called Akhenaton). King tut had a short life as a boy and pharaoh. Tut’s death has been a mystery for years and still hasn’t been recovered. Some say his wife, Ankhesanamum, killed him, but they could be wrong. King tut was pharaoh for only ten years, and is now remembered for his golden mask.
So have you ever heard a story like that before? Well if you haven’t, your very welcome.

This is the story of a sixteen year old boy who’s converted hundreds of people to Christianity.
The story starts here where Garrett Russell George ends his life.
It’s a Sunday evening and my sister and I are just coming back from our dad’s when our mom tells us are cousin had a car accident. We’re stunned we never expected something so grave and insane to happen. That’s when the tears start streaming down. When someone in our family would die, I would be sad, but never cry because I didn’t know them or was close to them. This is different, I knew Garrett. I was close to Garrett. This was not fair.
Walking into the church was hard, not just from sorrow but because it was packed with cars and people. When we finally make our way through the crowd we see there are at least a thousand people waiting in line to give their grief. I was amazed how many people Garrett and his family knew. We are finally at the casket and I can see the scratch marks and cuts have been cleaned and are gone. I can also see he was in his football jersey (number nine) and with his cell phone.
I look over at my aunt and cousins and went to hug them and just held them. I could tell they were crying but I didn’t care everyone was, including me.
The funeral has started and Derek, my other cousin is giving a speech. He’s telling memories that have happened and how Garrett would go and buy the same exact shoes as Derek. Derek couldn’t finish his story and the pastor took over. Then the pastor gave his speech. When he finished many of
Garrett’s friends, family, cousins, and even people he barely new stood up and accepted Jesus in their heart and became Christians.
It was amazing! I couldn’t believe it! Even my aunt, uncle, and cousins stood up. We left the church and I was overwhelmed, happy and sad all at the same time.
Victory
Posted on October 13th, 2009 at 6:23 pm by faithjprms15 and tagged boys, race, victory
Once when I was in “Awanas” there was going to be a “wood block car race”. I wanted to win. So I entered the race and started designing what my car would look like. Then my mom’s friend, Rich carved a corvette out of the block and my mom helped me paint it pink with windows and everything. When my mom and I got to the packed church gym feeling very nervous I went to the table where everyone’s cars were. When I set my car down the boys made fun of my car and that made me even more nervous but then my mom reassured me that I’ll do fine. Then the race began. Everyone went before me but when it was my turn I raced and I won. Then I raced another person and won again. Then every person I raced I beat. I beat girls and boys of all ages, and many of the dads got angry. Now it was the final round, and I had to race another undefeated kid (which of course was a boy). The cars were lined up, and the flag was starting, ready set… GO! The cars were rolling down the track… I DID IT, I WON! I got a first place trophy and proved the boys wrong. I was very pleased that day.
